The wife of a 38-year-old man Identified as Gabriel Iliya Magaji, of Masaka in Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State , has explained why her husband committed suicide.She said it was because she was sleeping with his friends to make ends meet.Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Nasarawa State command, DSP Nansel Ramhan, confirmed the incident to our correspondent yesterday in a WhatsApp chat.
According to him, “On Monday, this week (last week) around 7am, a report was lodged by a staff member of Crystal School, Masaka, in our office in Masaka division, that an unidentified man was found hanging in one of the classes, in Crystal School, Masaka”“Upon receipt of the complaint, the DPO led his men to the scene and untied the body and took it to the General Hospital, Mararaba, where he was confirmed dead by the doctor, so the body was deposited in the morgue,” he said.
The PPRO further said there wasn’t suicide note found on the deceased, as such the Police had commenced investigation into the matter to unravel the cause of his death.
Whether the man killed himself because his friends were sleeping with his wife as alleged, the PPRO said he could not confirm the allegation until investigations were concluded.Meanwhile, a Facebook post said: “When he confronted his wife, she said she was doing that because he couldn’t afford to bring food to the table.”
