Wife of Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nafisa Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu, Meets with Wives of Local Government Chairmen to Discuss Malaria Vaccination.

As part of her efforts to combat malaria in Kebbi State, the wife of Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nafisa Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu, has today met with wives of Local Government Chairmen to discuss the upcoming malaria vaccination program.

The meeting, which aimed to enlighten the wives of local Government Chairmen on the importance of the malaria vaccination, particularly for children under one year, was attended by the Chairperson of ANCOPSS Women’s Wing, Hajia Salamatu Bala Tafida, and other stakeholders.

Dr. Asiya Muhammed Kwaido, Social and Behavioral Change Communication Officer at the World Health Organization (WHO), emphasized the significance of the malaria vaccine, stating that “malaria remains a significant public health issue globally, with Nigeria bearing the highest burden”.

The malaria vaccination program is set to commence on December 6, 2024, and will be implemented in phases, starting with high-burden states like Kebbi and Bayelsa.

The wives of the Local Government Chairmen expressed their gratitude to Dr. Nafisa Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu for inviting them and assured her of their total support during and after the vaccination program.
