Plateau okada rider shot dead near military barracks

Gunmen have killed a commercial motorcycle rider in the Agingi community, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The victim, identified as Monday Mbah, was ambushed near the gate of Rukuba Barracks in the Agingi Kisaloi area around 7 p.m. on Monday. His attackers reportedly shot him and made away with his motorcycle.
A resident, Mary Hassan, who confirmed the incident on Tuesday, said, “Monday Mbah was ambushed and killed near the Rukuba Barracks’ gate. His motorcycle was stolen afterwards. Residents heard the gunshot around 7 p.m.”
When contacted, the spokesman for the Plateau State Police Command, Alabo Alfred, could not be reached as his phone was switched off.
However, sources at the command confirmed that the corpse had been evacuated.
“We are aware of the unfortunate incident, but the body has already been removed from the scene,” one of the sources said.
The killing adds to the series of violent attacks that have plagued Plateau State. In April, over 50 residents of the Irigwe community in Zikke, Kwall District, Bassa LGA, were massacred in a major assault.
