Youth Coach Dies During Bayern Munich Training Camp in Germany

A youth football coach, Ashgar, tragically passed away after collapsing during a Bayern Munich training camp held in Riesa, Saxony, Germany.

Originally from Afghanistan, Ashgar collapsed on the pitch at the Feralpi Arena during a lunch break on Monday. Emergency services responded swiftly and transported him to the hospital, where he later died.

Before joining the Bayern youth camp, which hosted 119 children from Riesa and surrounding areas, Ashgar had been coaching an under-13 team in Austria.

Local partner club BSG Stahl Riesa confirmed the incident in a statement on its website on Thursday:

“During the lunch break, Ashgar collapsed on the pitch. In the afternoon, we received the heartbreaking news that he had lost his life in the hospital.”

Out of respect for the late coach and his family, Bayern Munich ended the camp early. In a message to parents, the club expressed its sorrow:

“We are all dismayed and shocked by the tragic incident during our FC Bayern Campus training session in Riesa… Our thoughts and deepest condolences go out to the family, relatives, and friends.”
