Yuletide: NSCDC Reassigned 1,600 Personnel Restructures Operations In Edo State

The Edo Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) announced the redeployment of 1,600 personnel for special operations to ensure security during the Christmas celebrations in the state.

The Redeployment was announced via a statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, SC Efosa Egbebor on Wednesday in Benin.

Egbebor quoted the state Commandant of the Corps, Gbenga Agun as saying that the operatives were drawn from the various tactical teams of the command.

According to him, the teams include the Operations Department, Anti-Vandal, Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI) unit, Counter Terrorism Unit and Special Female Squad (SFS), amongst others.

Agun said that the operatives would provide security to public places such as markets, recreational centres, places of worship and all critical national assets and infrastructures in the state.

The NSCDC boss noted that the deployment was to prevent crime and ensure hitch free Christmas and New Year celebrations in the state.

“As usual, we will be collaborating with other sister agencies to ensure optimal operational success during the yuletide season,” he said.

Agun felicitated Christians as they celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ and wished them a joyous Christmas celebration.

He advised youths in the state to eschew all forms of violence and unwholesome acts that could jeopardize a peaceful celebration.
