FG Plans to Launch Renewed Hope Social Housing Programme

The Federal Government has planned to launch the Renewed Hope Social Housing Programme, aimed at providing homes for low-income earners, the unemployed, vulnerable groups, and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).

The programme will provide 100 housing units in each of the 774 local government areas across the country, totaling 77,400 housing units.

 

The programme is designed to provide homes for Nigerians, regardless of class or income level.The construction of the housing units is expected to be completed within one year from the date of launch, and the programme will be funded through the Renewed Hope Infrastructure Development Fund (RHIDF).

 

Inaddition,80% of the houses will be sold to Nigerians living in the local government areas who earn a living wage.Interested individuals will be required to contribute one-third of their monthly income.For example, someone earning N30,000 per month will pay N10,000 monthly, while someone earning N90,000 will pay N30,000.

 

The minister further highlighted that each estate will be equipped with auxiliary facilities such as recreational areas, primary schools, police outposts, clinics, and shopping malls.

The programme targets low-income earners, the unemployed, vulnerable groups, and IDPs.
While 20% of the housing units will be allocated free of charge to citizens with low or no income, such as widows, orphans, and other vulnerable groups.

 

The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, met with a delegation from Creative Sphere Limited to discuss potential collaboration on the programme.
