41 Year Old Man Dies In Fire Outbreak, 30 Rooms Saved

A 41-year-old man from Ile Alate, Abayawo compound in Ilorin, identified as Abdul Fatai tragically lost his life in a fire outbreak in the early hours of monday at No. 158, Ile Alaparun Isale, Alore, Ilorin, Kwara State.
The deceased was said to had been visiting a friend when the fire occurred.
Hassan Hakeem Adekunle, Head of Media and Publicity for the Kwara State Fire Service, in a statement revealed that the man was trapped by the thick smoke and passed away during the incident.
He further revealed that firefighters responded swiftly to the distress call at 02:07 hours on Monday, December 9, 2024. Despite the blaze engulfing several rooms, the fire service team managed to save 30 rooms out of a total of 35, with five rooms completely destroyed.
“The fire was reported at a dwelling of about 35 rooms,” the statement explained. “Upon arrival, the fire had already spread to some rooms. The firefighters worked tirelessly to contain and extinguish the blaze, preventing it from spreading further. Unfortunately, five rooms were affected, while 30 rooms were successfully saved.”
The fire claimed the life of AbdulFatai, who was unable to escape due to the heavy smoke. “He was found unconscious and later confirmed dead,” the statement added. His body was handed over to his family following the firefighting operation.
