Army Chief Oluyede Opens Bauchi Educational Centre, Highlights Military’s Role

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General O.O. Oluyede, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to safeguarding the nation and contributing to community development.

Represented by Major General M.S. Ahmed, he made this pledge during the inauguration of a large-scale educational centre in Chinade, Katagum Local Government Area, Bauchi State.

The newly commissioned facility, constructed by Major General Aminu Shehu Chinade in his hometown, includes six classrooms, two dormitories, and other essential infrastructure aimed at supporting the educational needs of children and adults in the community. The initiative reflects the Nigerian Army’s dedication to nation-building alongside its primary mandate of national security.

General Oluyede assured Nigerians that the armed forces are steadfast in their responsibility to protect lives and property. He urged citizens to collaborate with security agencies to enhance their effectiveness. Commending Major General Chinade’s efforts, he remarked, “This joint effort aligns with our system of encouraging senior military officers to contribute meaningfully to the development of their communities.”

Explaining the inspiration behind the project, Major General Chinade described it as a way of giving back to the community that shaped his early years. “I received free education from primary to secondary school, and this is my responsibility to contribute to my people,” he said.

The inauguration emphasis on the Army’s dual commitment to ensuring national security and fostering development, marking a significant step toward bridging educational gaps in Bauchi State.
