Beautiful Borno Lady takes her life as father force her into marriage

Tragedy struck in Gubio Local Government Area of Borno State on Sunday evening, when a young girl ended her own life shortly after being compelled by her father to marry his elderly friend.
Sources revealed that the girl had desperately pleaded with her father to allow her marry the man she truly loved, but her pleas were ignored. The family reportedly stood by the father’s decision, insisting that she must proceed with the arranged marriage and immediately cut ties with her boyfriend.
Unable to cope with the emotional torment and heartbreak, she allegedly took her own life around 6 p.m. that evening.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama described the incident as a devastating example of the psychological toll forced marriages can take on young women.
A local child protection volunteer, Bukar Fantami Gubio, confirmed the tragic development and called on human rights organizations and authorities to launch a full investigation. He further urged for stronger enforcement of laws against child and forced marriages to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
Community members have described the situation as “painful and utterly avoidable,” reigniting debate over traditional practices that continue to undermine young girls’ autonomy and well-being.
