Body of Missing Lagos Banker Found in Yaba Morgue with Machete Wounds

The body of Osemudiamen Idemudia, a 26-year-old banker who was reported missing in Lagos, has been discovered in a morgue in the Yaba area, days after he was last seen.
His corpse, found with deep machete wounds on his head, face, and legs, has raised suspicions of foul play.
Idemudia, who worked in the Point-of-Sale department of a commercial bank in the Ikota area, was last seen on May 9 in the CMS area of Lagos Island.
According to a relative identified as Segun, the family had embarked on a desperate search across hospitals and mortuaries in the state before locating his remains on Sunday.
“We found Osemudiamen’s body in a Yaba morgue with machete cuts. He was murdered. I’m so sad,” Segun said.
He explained that morgue staff claimed the body was brought in by police officers, but they were unable to provide further details about the officers or the exact location where the corpse was found, adding further mystery to the case.
The deceased’s father, Julius, recounted that his son had left the office on May 9 with a colleague to attend a scheduled meeting with a senior staff member at their bank’s CMS headquarters.
However, the meeting was cancelled en route, and the colleagues parted ways after arriving at CMS. Idemudia was never seen again.
“He was supposed to take a bus to Iyana Ipaja and then to Igando, but we never heard from him after that evening. We got worried when there was no word from him after 24 hours,” his father said.
The incident was reported to the Igando Police Station, located near the Akesan area where Idemudia lived.
All efforts to reach the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, for comment were unsuccessful as calls and messages were unanswered at the time of filing this report.
The family has since buried Osemudiamen.
