Boutique owner arrested following viral video of female staff caught stealing
The owner of Don Maserati Classic Boutique has been arrested by Lagos State Police Command in Lagos Island, along with two others, following a viral video showing the brutal assault and molestation of a female employee accused of theft.
The footage, which went viral online, showed three men seriously flogging the female staff member with canes under the alleged orders of the boutique owner.
This has since caused widespread outrage, resulting to quick action from the Lagos State Government and law enforcement.
CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Command, confirming the arrests, announced on X (formerly Twitter), saying: “Three suspects have been arrested, while efforts are on to apprehend other suspects and establish contact with the victim. The Commissioner of Police, @LagosPoliceNG, CP Olanrewaju Ishola, assures Lagosians that justice will be served,” he wrote.
Though the victim’s identity remains undisclosed for her protection, advocacy groups have called for her immediate rehabilitation and justice.
Investigations are also ongoing to apprehend other suspects involved in the assault.
The Lagos State Government and Police Command further restated their commitment to ensuring that justice is served and urged residents to report similar incidents of abuse.
