Convicts Nnamdi Kanu on Seven Terrorism Charges
A Federal High Court in Abuja has convicted Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), on all seven terrorism-related charges filed against him by the federal government.
Delivering the judgment on Thursday, Justice James Omotosho ruled that the prosecution had proven each allegation beyond reasonable doubt. The court held that Kanu failed to present any credible defence and “deliberately refused” to counter the evidence brought forward by the government.
The conviction marks a major development in the federal government’s ongoing efforts to tackle terrorism and separatist activities in the southeast.
