Delta Police: Arrested 11-Year-Old Girl Used for Drug Trafficking

The Delta State Police Command has revealed that an 11-year-old girl recently arrested at the Ekpan Police Division was being used to traffic hard drugs.
Spokesperson for the command, SP Bright Edafe, made this known on Friday via his official X handle in response to public outrage on social media following the minor’s arrest and detention.
A social media user, identified as Kat (@Living_JustCus), had alleged that she paid N500,000 to secure the girl’s release after the police detained her along with adult suspects allegedly caught with hard drugs in a commercial tricycle. Kat claimed the child was denied access to her family and not allowed any communication before the purported bail was granted.
Reacting to the allegations on Thursday, the command called on the accuser to present evidence of the incident. However, in an update on Friday, Edafe confirmed the girl was indeed arrested and had confessed during questioning to handling hard drugs.
According to him, the girl admitted she was being used by a woman she referred to as her “mummy” to transport narcotics, believing her young age would shield her from police suspicion.
“A woman, whom the girl identified as her mummy, sent her to move drugs thinking she wouldn’t be searched because she’s just a little girl,” Edafe stated. “The girl herself identified the drugs as Molly, CSC codeine, and Black Diamond.”
He added, “When asked how long she had been helping the woman, she said she started last week. But what shocked me the most was how she confidently named these dangerous drugs at just 11 years old.
“If I’m lying, let them come forward and disprove it. Perhaps we may release the disturbing confession video for the public to see.”
As of the time of filing this report, police have not confirmed whether the woman allegedly using the child has been arrested.
