Kano 60 years old man fall in abandoned well get drowned


The CBN Quarters on Hadejia Road, Kano Metropolis was thrown into panic on Saturday as a 60-year-old man, simply identified as Sabi’u Yusha’u Unguwa Uku, slipped into an abandoned well that drowned him.

The tragic incident was confirmed by the Public Relations Officer, Kano State Fire Service, Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, to reporters Saturday night.

The spokesman narrated that the victim was driving a car belonging to the first wife of the Minister of Defence, and after dropping off a guests at a nearby house, he stepped out of the vehicle to urinate, and he was unaware of the abandoned well and debris in the area.

Mr Saminu, explained that the cover of the well caved in leading to Uku slipping into the abandoned well thus resulting in his tragic death.

The PRO disclosed that the state fire service, led by Hassan Ahmad Muhammad, swiftly responded to the emergency call and the rescue team arrived at the disaster scene within 15 minutes.

“Unfortunately, the victim who  was rescued unconscious was later pronounced dead on arrival at the Sir Sunusi Hospital.”

“The body was subsequently handed over to CPL Faruku Musa of Dakata Police Division for further investigation,” he said.Go
