He Honoured Our Son”: Daura Emir Backs President Tinubu for 2027 in Appreciation of Buhari’s Dignified Burial

Emir Backs President Tinubu for 2027 in Appreciation of Buhari’s Dignified Burial

The Emir of Daura, His Royal Highness Alhaji Umar Faruq-Umar, has thrown his weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s potential bid for re-election in 2027. The Emir said the endorsement was rooted in gratitude for the respect and honour the president showed to the people of Daura and Katsina State during the final rites of their illustrious son, former President Muhammadu Buhari.

Addressing members of the Daura Emirate Council during a recent gathering, the Emir praised Tinubu’s leadership and personal involvement in ensuring that Buhari was laid to rest with dignity befitting a former head of state. The Emir described the gesture as “a symbol of national unity and true statesmanship.”

“This was not just politics; this was humanity, loyalty, and honour,” the monarch said. “President Tinubu has written his name in gold in the hearts of the Daura people. We will never forget what he did for our son.”

The Emir went further to say that the people of Daura were deeply moved by the president’s actions, noting that it showed a rare sense of humility and respect for history and tradition. “It is on this basis that I, as the Emir of Daura, offer my full support for President Tinubu should he seek a second term in 2027,” he declared.

The endorsement is particularly significant coming from Daura, the ancestral home of the late President Buhari, and a region with considerable influence in Northern Nigeria’s political landscape.

President Tinubu personally led the Federal Government delegation to Buhari’s funeral, which included a full state ceremony, national honours, and attendance by dignitaries from across the country and beyond. The well-organised event in Daura drew national and international attention for its solemnity and respect for the former leader’s legacy.

Political analysts say the Emir’s endorsement could solidify Tinubu’s growing influence in the North, especially among traditional institutions and grassroots supporters.

For many in Daura, Tinubu’s gesture was not just protocol—it was a moment of shared grief, respect, and a powerful reminder of what true leadership looks like in times of loss.
