Industrial Machine Kills Worker at Ogun Factory

Just two months after the Ogun State Government shut down Quantum Steel Industry in the Ogijo area over an explosion that left seven workers critically injured, another tragic incident has occurred at the same facility.

FCNN has learned that a fatal accident took place last Monday involving a forklift operator named Abayomi.

He was reportedly killed after becoming trapped in a scrap grinding machine.

A casual worker at the factory, who requested anonymity due to fear of retaliation, told our correspondent that Abayomi was instructed by the machine operator—a foreign national—to remove a piece of scrap stuck in the machine. Unaware that the equipment was still powered, Abayomi followed the instruction.

“As soon as he removed the scrap, the machine suddenly came alive and pulled him in, treating him like another piece of scrap,” the worker said. “Other staff nearby rushed to help, but by the time they got him out, he was already dead.”

Efforts to contact the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, for an official statement were unsuccessful, as she did not respond to messages as of press time.

However, a police officer in the area, who is not authorized to speak to the media, confirmed the incident during a phone conversation on Tuesday. “Yes, it happened,” the officer stated.

Attempts to reach Quantum Steel Industry for comment were also unfruitful. A person who answered the number listed on the company’s website said they were not authorized to speak with the press.
