Ireland Deports 35 Nigerians, Including Five Children

The Republic of Ireland has deported at least 35 Nigerian nationals, including five children, on a chartered flight that left Dublin Airport on Wednesday night.
FCNN learnt the group comprised of 21 men, nine women, and five children.
They arrived in Nigeria on Thursday following the overnight flight.
Ireland’s Minister for Justice, Jim O’Callaghan, confirmed the deportation, stating he was “happy to say” all individuals were returned to Nigeria, despite the flight making an unscheduled stop due to a medical emergency on board.
Although Irish authorities did not disclose specific reasons for the deportations, O’Callaghan emphasized the country’s stance on immigration, saying, “Ireland has a rules-based immigration system. It is important that those rules are robust and enforced.”
Meanwhile, the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) said it was unaware of the deportation.
