Jigawa PCC partners Police to boost justice delivery

The Jigawa State Public Complaints Commission (PCC) has entered into a partnership with the state Police Command to promote fairness, justice, and public trust.

The development followed a courtesy visit on Friday by PCC Commissioner, Barde Shehu, and his management team to the Commissioner of Police, CP DAHIRU MUHAMMAD, at the Command Headquarters in Dutse, the state capital.

Shehu commended the Police for their commitment to peace and security, while highlighting the PCC’s role as Nigeria’s official “Ombudsman” responsible for mediating disputes between citizens and government agencies.

“We are a non-judicial body mandated to investigate complaints, mediate disputes, and recommend peaceful resolutions,” he said. “Our duty is not enforcement but the promotion of fairness, accountability, and justice.”

He stressed that the Commission exists to safeguard citizens’ rights and strengthen governance in collaboration with security agencies like the Police.

In his response, CP Muhammad praised the PCC for its efforts and assured of the Command’s readiness to work closely with the Commission.

“We share a common goal of deepening justice, fairness, and public confidence in governance,” he said, adding that the partnership would enhance service delivery and law enforcement in the state.
