Lagos Church Fence Collapses, Kills Bricklayer

A tragic incident occurred in the Alapere area of Lagos State, where a 33-year-old bricklayer identified simp HBO h ly as Taiwo lost his life after a church fence he was constructing collapsed on him.

The incident happened around 7 p.m. on Saturday while Taiwo was working on the fence, reportedly nearing completion.

According to sources, the structure gave way suddenly, trapping him beneath the rubble.

Community members, along with the property owner, quickly rushed to the scene, pulling Taiwo from the debris and transporting him to a nearby hospital.

Despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

“He was almost done for the day when the fence collapsed,” a local resident told reporters “He was rescued and rushed to the hospital immediately. His family was also contacted and arrived at the hospital before he passed.”

Another resident, who requested anonymity due to the sensitivity of the situation, said the victim’s relatives later reported the incident to the police.

Confirming the case, Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, said the victim’s elder brother lodged a report at the Alapere Police Division at about 8:37 p.m. on the same day.

According to Hundeyin, detectives visited both the scene and the hospital. “The victim was already unconscious when he was rescued.

He was taken to a hospital where he was later confirmed dead. Investigators documented the scene and took photographs before transferring the body to a public morgue for autopsy,” he said.

An investigation into the incident is currently underway.
