Tragedy struck in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, on Sallah day as a man identified simply as Kazeem lost his life after reportedly consuming Colorado, a hard drug, in celebration of the festival.
According to the Spokesperson for the Kwara State Fire Service, Hassan Adekunle, the incident occurred at Ile Alapo in the Edun area of Ilorin.
Kazeem, 43, had returned home after attending Eid prayers and decided to indulge in the substance as part of his Sallah celebration.
Under the influence of the drug, he allegedly jumped into a well and died.
“A distress call was received at about 10:29 a.m., reporting that a man had fallen into a well,” Adekunle stated. “Our firefighters were immediately dispatched to the scene, where they successfully recovered the body.”
He confirmed that Kazeem had taken a substance known locally as Colo (Colorado) shortly before the fatal incident.
The recovered body was handed over to Inspector Babatunde Amos of the C Division Police Station in Ilorin.

Authorities are currently awaiting formal identification and a claim from the deceased’s family.
