Karu/Gitata Constituency aspirant for the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Musa Titus, has detailed his legislative priorities, emphasizing infrastructure, youth employment, healthcare access, and community engagement as key focus areas if elected.
Speaking exclusively with The Fusion Chronicles Nigeria, Titus presented his vision for representation and development ahead of the forthcoming elections.
Community Engagement and Representation
Titus highlighted a participatory approach to governance, pledging increased consultations with constituents through town hall meetings and engagement with community leaders.
“I will increase town hall meetings, use social media and engage with community leaders to understand constituents’ needs,” he said, adding that his advocacy would also include environmental protection and social welfare programmes to address pressing community concerns.
Development and Economic Agenda
Infrastructure development is central to Titus’ legislative focus, with urgent attention needed for roads, water supply, healthcare facilities, and schools.
He also proposed economic empowerment initiatives, including support for local businesses, promotion of agriculture, and youth-focused job creation programmes.
“I will support local businesses, promote agriculture and create job opportunities for youth,” he stated. Additionally, he plans to collaborate with security agencies to enhance community-based policing.
Programmes for Women and Vulnerable Groups
Titus outlined initiatives targeting women and vulnerable populations, including vocational training, microloans for women entrepreneurs, and social welfare schemes for the elderly and persons with disabilities. He also emphasized improving maternal healthcare and expanding access to education and justice for marginalized communities.
Legislative Proposals
If elected, Titus pledged to push for a constituency development fund to address local priorities such as roads, healthcare, and schools.
“I will push for a constituency development fund to address local priorities like roads, healthcare and schools,” he said, adding that he intends to sponsor legislation to improve key road networks and youth employment programmes at the state level.
Critique of Current Representation
Titus criticized the current representative, citing ongoing dissatisfaction among residents over infrastructure and basic services, particularly roads and water supply.
Transparency and Reporting Plans
He pledged regular updates on activities and spending, including quarterly project reports, town hall briefings, and updates via social media and community notice boards.
“I will publish quarterly updates on projects, community engagement and budget use,” he affirmed.
