NDLEA arrests widow for trafficking cocaine disguised as pregnancy

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a 50-year-old widow and fashion designer, Mrs. Ifeoma Henrietta Ezewuike, for attempting to traffic 1.3 kilograms of cocaine while pretending to be pregnant.
Ezewuike, who runs Golden Star Creation fashion outfit in Okota, Lagos, was intercepted on Friday, August 22, 2025, at a bus terminal in Jibowu, Yaba, while trying to deliver the drug consignment to clients in Abuja.
In a statement on Saturday, NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi disclosed that a follow-up raid on her residence at Ago Palace Way, Okota, led to the recovery of 200 grams of a cutting agent used for processing cocaine.
During interrogation, the suspect, a mother of one, confessed that she inherited the illicit business from her late husband, who died two years ago, despite having been in the fashion industry for over 20 years.
Meanwhile, NDLEA operatives recorded other major seizures during the week. At a courier company in Lagos, officers intercepted 90 parcels of Loud, a potent strain of cannabis weighing 48.6kg, concealed in three cartons of kitchen sinks imported from the United States. The operation took place on Tuesday, August 19.
In Adamawa, a raid on the home of a notorious dealer, Idris Garba, forced him to flee by scaling a fence, while his associate, 55-year-old Boniface Nnaji, was arrested. Recovered from the premises were 354,480 pills of tramadol, a black Toyota Tundra jeep, and a Toyota Yaris car.
Similarly, in Kano, operatives arrested Buhari Ibrahim, 25, and Mansur Musa, 24, with 5,850 capsules of pregabalin. Another 452,070 opioid pills were recovered from the home of a suspect, Rabilu Mukhtar, who is currently on the run.
