The Edo State Police Command has confirmed the rescue of 13 passengers abducted by gunmen along the Benin-Ore Expressway.

The victims were kidnapped on Saturday afternoon near Ekhiadolor after armed men attacked their bus. The assailants shot the driver, left him bleeding beside the vehicle, and marched the passengers into the surrounding bushes.

Commissioner of Police Monday Agbonika initially disclosed that a manhunt had been launched, with special squads, drones, and advanced equipment deployed to track down the kidnappers. He also confirmed that the injured driver was receiving treatment at a hospital in Benin.

Giving an update on Tuesday, Agbonika announced that the victims had been freed.
