Police Arrest Three Robbery Suspects, Recover Stolen Vehicles in Anambra

The Anambra State Police Command has apprehended three suspected members of an armed robbery gang known for targeting residents and stealing vehicles at gunpoint.

According to a statement issued on Monday by the Anambra State Police command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the arrests followed a confession made by a suspect already in custody.

Acting on this information, operatives from the Rapid Response Squad in Awkuzu carried out the operation on Saturday at Agukwu-Nri, Anaocha Local Government Area.

The suspects, identified as Monday Onoja, Sanusi Muhammed, and Kenneth Nwokpu, all males aged between 27 and 32, were taken into custody during the early hours of May 30, 2025.

During the operation, police recovered an automatic pump-action gun and several items believed to be stolen, including a white Mercedes Benz C300 4MATIC with registration number KWC 140, an ash Lexus 350 with registration number 669 CY, and two luxury mobile phones.

Ikenga noted that investigations are ongoing to apprehend other members of the gang who remain at large.

He emphasized that the arrests reflect the command’s continued efforts to dismantle criminal networks across the state.
