Tinubu’s Emergency Rule Takes a Shocking Twist as National Assembly Rethinks Suspension

The Deputy Spokesman of the House of Representatives, Philip Agbese, has stated  that the Suspended Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the suspended state House of Assembly members may be reinstated earlier than expected despite’s President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s state of emergency declaration  that initially removed them for six months.

Fusion Chronicles Nigeria Newspaper gathered that the federal lawmaker, while speaking after a plenary session on Thursday, defended the controversial emergency rule, claiming it was necessary to restore peace in Rivers State.

However, he revealed that the National Assembly had proposed a review of the proclamation, allowing for Fubara and the lawmakers’ recall if stability is achieved before the six-month period expires.

He further stated that a Committee of Eminent Nigerians would play a key role in resolving the crisis, urging Nigerians to support the federal government’s intervention.

“The National Assembly represents every Nigerian, and we are committed to addressing the nation’s challenges,” Agbese said. “The Rivers situation demanded action, and the President made his decision.

However, the House recommended measures to ensure that if peace returns quickly, Fubara and the lawmakers will resume their duties.”

The shocking possibility of an early recall has fueled debates over Tinubu’s real intentions.
