Rivers Police Declare LG Officials Wanted for Attempted Murder

The Rivers State Police Command has declared two senior officials of the Ahoada East Local Government Area wanted over their alleged involvement in a violent attack on the council’s Sole Administrator, Goodluck Iheanachor.

Those declared wanted are the Chief Security Officer of Ahoada East LGA, Hector Ekakita, and the Chief of X, Mxxxxxxxxxr. Aloni Olodi.

In a statement issued on Sunday in Port Harcourt, the Command’s spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, said the two officials allegedly led a group of about 30 youths who stormed the council secretariat on June 20, 2025.

The group reportedly assaulted Iheanachor, seized vital documents and personal items from his office, and forced him to sign a resignation letter under duress.

The police have accused the suspects of criminal conspiracy, assault occasioning harm, stealing, and attempted murder.

According to Iringe-Koko, the state Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, ordered the manhunt after the suspects failed to honour police invitations for questioning regarding their alleged roles in the incident.

Part of the police statement reads: “The Rivers State Police Command has declared the following individuals wanted for criminal conspiracy, stealing, assault occasioning harm, and attempted murder in connection with the violent attack on the Sole Administrator of Ahoada East LGA, Hon. Goodluck Iheanachor.

These individuals, alongside a group of about 30 persons, are alleged to have assaulted the administrator, inflicted bodily harm, forcibly obtained his signature, and stole mobile phones, official documents, and personal items from his office. The victim is still receiving medical treatment for the injuries sustained.”

The statement further warned that anyone aiding or harbouring the suspects would face prosecution.

The police urged members of the public with credible information on the whereabouts of the wanted officials to report to the State Headquarters on Moscow Road, Port Harcourt, or contact the police through official phone lines.

Iheanachor is among the 23 sole administrators appointed by the state’s interim administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.), to manage the affairs of local councils following his assumption of office.
