Teen Kills Stepmother, Man Stabs Father to Death in Adamawa

The Adamawa State Police Command is investigating two separate incidents of fatal domestic violence that claimed the lives of two people in Madagali and Gombi Local Government Areas.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the Command’s spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, said the first incident occurred in Pallam District of Madagali. A quarrel reportedly broke out between two co-wives, 55-year-old Rhoda Anthony and 36-year-old Victoria Anthony, both married to one Anthony Pallam.
During the heated exchange, Victoria’s 16-year-old son, Ijai Anthony, allegedly struck Rhoda, his stepmother, on the head with a wooden object. She was rushed to the hospital but later died while receiving treatment.
Both Ijai and his mother are currently in protective police custody as investigations continue.
In a separate incident in the Fotta District of Gombi LGA, a man identified as Idi Buba allegedly stabbed his biological father, Buba Jelli, multiple times in the neck and back following a domestic dispute. The victim was taken to the Fotta Primary Health Care Centre, where he was pronounced dead.
Police operatives arrested the suspect at the scene and recovered the knife used in the attack, which will be presented as evidence in court.
Condemning the killings, the Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State, CP Dankombo Morris, urged residents to embrace peaceful conflict resolution and avoid violence, especially within families.
He added that investigations are ongoing and the suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion of inquiries.
