In a stunning revelation that has sparked widespread attention, the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) in Lagos claims it has arrested thousands of suspected Boko Haram insurgents attempting to establish a presence in the state.

Commander Kumar Sanda, head of the CJTF in Lagos, made the announcement during a prestigious award event hosted at the Airport Hotel, where the group was recognized as the “Best Security Group in Lagos” by the Nigerian Human Rights Community.

“Our intelligence and surveillance operations have been rigorous,” Sanda said. “We’ve apprehended thousands of individuals linked to Boko Haram who attempted to sneak into Lagos using unconventional routes like trailer parks, quarries, and even through truck-pushing activities.”

This proactive crackdown, he noted, was initiated to prevent Lagos from becoming a safe haven for insurgents fleeing intensified military actions in Nigeria’s northern region.

Commander Sanda praised the vigilance of the CJTF and urged residents to remain alert. “Not everyone from the north is a threat, but we must all stay watchful. These elements are trying to mix in with civilians to escape detection.”

He reaffirmed the task force’s dedication to keeping Lagos secure. “We will not allow Boko Haram or any banditry to destabilize this city. Our resolve is firm.”

As Nigeria continues to face severe security challenges, especially in the northern parts, this latest development underscores the growing concerns about insurgents shifting base to the more peaceful southern regions.
