Glo Applauded for Championing Culture at Ojude Oba Festival

Telecommunications giant, Globacom, has received commendation for its longstanding support of the annual Ojude Oba Festival in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State. Community leaders and festival organisers praised the company for its dedication to preserving cultural heritage and empowering grassroots communities.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Secretary of the Ojude Oba Festival Planning Committee, Opeoluwa Osisanwo—one of the 2025 car prize winners—extended heartfelt appreciation to Globacom Chairman, Dr. Mike Adenuga Jr., for the company’s unwavering sponsorship of the event.
Osisanwo, who visited Globacom’s Ijebu Ode office to express his gratitude, was one of two recipients of brand-new cars awarded through Globacom’s Community Service Award.
He described his selection by Ijebuland elders, in line with the company’s initiative, as a profound honour.
“I am thankful to Globacom for this Community Service Award at the 2025 Ojude Oba Festival. My deepest appreciation goes to the management of Globacom and to the Chairman, Dr. Mike Adenuga Jr., the Otunba Apesin of Ijebuland,” Osisanwo said.
He added, “Having served as Secretary of the Planning Committee for over 15 years, this recognition is not mine alone—it is for the entire Ijebu community. I pray that Globacom continues to thrive, and that God grants the Chairman continued strength and good health.”
Another car recipient, Idowu Olabisi, a trader from Ijebu Igbo, expressed her surprise and joy. “Globacom gave me an unforgettable gift this Eid. I never imagined owning a car at this time,” she said.
In addition to the car prizes, Globacom donated four brand-new tricycles to other winners across Ijebuland.
The beneficiaries included Mrs. Adenike Olanrewaju, a plank seller from Molipa, Ijebu Ode; Hassan Toheeb, a businessman from Ijebu Itele; Gazal Temitope, a trader from Onisa, Ijebu Ode; and Lawal Tosin, a carpenter from Idowa.
