A 40-year-old married man identified as Tomiwa has been arrested by the police in Ondo State over the alleged rape of a 20-year-old married woman with an intellectual disability in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area.
The victim, who is reportedly four months pregnant, was allegedly assaulted on September 9, 2026, at Ajegunle Street in Ore. The incident has drawn condemnation from the Ondo State Agency for the Welfare of Persons with Disabilities, which described the allegation as deeply concerning.
The Chairman of the Agency, Princess Folashade Arise, disclosed the development on Friday, September 18, 2026, explaining that the case was brought to her attention by a concerned community elder. She said she subsequently contacted the Area Commander of the Nigeria Police Force in Ore, ACP Femi Iwasoku, who directed the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Ore Division to investigate the matter.
According to Arise, the police responded to the report and subsequently arrested the suspect in connection with the allegation. The case is expected to be investigated further in accordance with the law.
