Gunmen Kill Nigerian Army Colonel During Suspected Abduction Attempt in Kurudu, Abuja

A serving Nigerian Army officer, Colonel Abdussalam Ude, has been killed after suspected kidnappers attacked his residence in the Kurudu area of Abuja during an alleged abduction attempt.

The incident occurred on Monday evening shortly after the senior military officer returned home. According to reports, the armed assailants stormed the residence in what is believed to have been an attempt to abduct either Colonel Ude or a member of his family.

During the attack, the gunmen opened fire, fatally shooting the officer. His wife, driver, and security guard sustained gunshot injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

Colonel Ude, who hailed from Enugu State, served in the Nigerian Army Intelligence Corps. Throughout his military career, he participated in several counter-terrorism operations in North-East Nigeria and also undertook international assignments in Chad and France.

Security agencies have commenced an investigation into the incident as efforts continue to identify and apprehend those responsible for the attack. The Nigerian Army had not issued an official statement on the killing as of the time of filing this report.
