Thugs Disrupt ADC Transition Committee Inauguration in Kaduna
The official inauguration of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) transition committee in Kaduna State on Saturday descended into chaos after suspected thugs stormed the venue wielding cutlasses and stones.
The event, which had in attendance former Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, was organised to induct members of various political parties into the ADC transition committee. However, midway into the proceedings, violence erupted as the thugs invaded, leaving several people assaulted and property destroyed.
Although the programme later continued, victims of the assault, including Ibrahim Madibo Sanusi, recounted how the attackers unleashed violence on unsuspecting party members.
Reacting to the incident, El-Rufai and the ADC National Vice Chairman, North-West Zone, Jafaru Sani, alleged that the ruling party masterminded the attack. They further accused security operatives of complicity, claiming they failed to protect citizens engaged in a constitutionally guaranteed political activity.
FCNN gathered that, the Kaduna State Police Command has confirmed it has launched a comprehensive investigation into the attack.
According to the police, the probe will cover reported assaults, destruction of property, and allegations of shootings by the suspected political thugs.
The incident has heightened political tension in Kaduna, with opposition leaders demanding accountability and stronger guarantees for the protection of political activities in the state.
