TikToker Peller Protests ₦36m Tax Demand

TikTok content creator Peller has voiced his frustration over what he described as an outrageous ₦36 million income tax bill from the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS).
Speaking during a livestream with singer Peruzzi, Peller said the amount was far beyond his means, noting that he only gained online prominence last year and is already struggling financially.
Peruzzi, however, urged him to settle the bill, describing tax payment as a civic responsibility. He added that he personally pays even more in taxes than the amount being demanded from Peller.
“Taskforce said I should pay ₦36 million for tax. I don’t have anything. I just came into the limelight last year,” Peller lamented.
In response, Peruzzi asked, “Why haven’t you paid your taxes? Do you know you’re supposed to pay tax as a Nigerian? Do you know how much I pay in tax? I won’t mention it here, but it’s more than the bill they gave you.”
Peller insisted the tax assessment was unfair, arguing that the government has never supported him in his content creation journey.
He stressed that his income from social media is much lower than assumed and comes from outside Nigeria.
