Niger Delta Leader, Socio-Cultural Group Praise Tinubu’s Reforms
Niger Delta chieftain Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, and the Yoruba Aborigines Progressive Initiative (YAPI) have thrown their weight behind President Bola Tinubu’s bid for a second term, commending his administration’s strides in security, the economy, and infrastructure.
In separate statements on Sunday, the two groups highlighted key reforms under Tinubu’s leadership, including student loan initiatives, Customs duty waivers on pharmaceuticals, and measures to address rising food prices.
Tompolo, who chairs Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, praised Tinubu’s decisive leadership, particularly in tackling crude oil theft and pipeline vandalism, which has reportedly boosted Nigeria’s oil production from 600,000 barrels per day to 1.8 million barrels. He vowed to rally the Niger Delta behind the President’s re-election, emphasizing, “It’s your turn for another four years, and we stand firmly behind you.”

YAPI’s chairman, Olushola John, and spokesperson, Olatubosun Awonuga, underscored the group’s commitment to supporting Tinubu, citing reforms like fuel subsidy removal, refinery revitalization, and the Supreme Court ruling on local government autonomy. They insisted that backing the President’s continuity was in line with their vision for justice, equity, and national development.
Ekpemupolo also lauded Tinubu’s administration for boosting national revenue to over ₦9.1 trillion, reducing debt servicing expenses, clearing $5 billion in foreign exchange obligations, and spearheading major infrastructure projects like the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and the Sokoto-Badagry Highway.
“Tinubu’s bold economic decisions, including fuel subsidy removal and forex unification, have redefined Nigeria’s economic trajectory,” he added.
With growing endorsements from various socio-political groups, the push for Tinubu’s second term is gaining momentum ahead of 2027.
