Tragedy Strikes in Abia as Bride-To-Be Abducted, Brother Killed Hours Before Wedding

A tragic incident has thrown a family into mourning just hours before a planned wedding in Abia State, as gunmen abducted a bride-to-be, Uzoamaka Joseph Aliu, and fatally shot her brother, Chibueze Franklin Joseph.
The attack occurred around 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 20, 2025, in Osisioma, Aba. Chibueze, 27, had travelled from Owerri to support his sister’s big day and was escorting her to church when their vehicle was ambushed.
According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the assailants intercepted their vehicle and shot Chibueze in the neck before forcing him out and fleeing with Uzoamaka in a black Toyota Sequoia SUV. The registration number of the vehicle remains unknown.
Chibueze was later found in critical condition and rushed for medical help, but he succumbed to his injuries. His remains have been deposited at Alanwendu Mortuary in Osisioma for autopsy and preservation.
Family sources described Chibueze as deeply involved in the wedding preparations and said he had looked forward to the ceremony with great enthusiasm.
