Truck Crushes Police Inspector to Death at Ogun Checkpoint

Tragedy struck in Ogun State as a police inspector, Afolabi Adeola, lost his life after being struck by a speeding truck at a checkpoint along the Abeokuta–Sagamu Expressway.

The incident, which occurred around 12:30 p.m. on Sunday near the Judiciary Complex checkpoint in Abeokuta, involved a truck reportedly carrying 900 bags of cement.

Witnesses say the vehicle was approaching the checkpoint at high speed when it first collided with another truck that had halted in compliance with police traffic control.

Inspector Adeola, who was on duty at the time, sustained severe injuries from the impact. He was immediately rushed to a hospital in Lagos, where he died on Monday after undergoing an X-ray examination.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama disclosed via his X (formerly Twitter) account that traffic unit officers visited the scene, documented the incident, and towed both vehicles to the station for further investigation.

The individuals involved are expected to be arraigned in court on Wednesday, July 3.
