Two Teenagers Drown in Kano Stream, Another Man Found Dead in Well

The Kano State Fire Service has confirmed the deaths of two teenagers who drowned while swimming in a stream at Hayin Yawa Gada, Tudun Wada Local Government Area of the state, on Thursday.

The agency also reported the discovery of a man’s body in a well at Jaba Masaka Shago Tara in the state.

In a statement released on Saturday, the Public Relations Officer of the Fire Service, Saminu Abdullahi, said the Tudun Wada Fire Station received an emergency call from CG Hisba around 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 9, 2025.

“Upon arrival, our officers discovered that two boys, identified as 15-year-old Habu Sani and Haruna Isah, had entered the stream for local swimming and drowned,” the statement read.

Abdullahi added that the victims were rescued unconscious but were later confirmed dead. Their bodies were handed over to Inspector Usaini Iliya of the Tudun Wada Police Division.

He further disclosed that another incident occurred the following morning, on Friday, October 10, 2025, when the control room received a distress call from the P&G Kwalli Police Division about a body found in a well at Jaba Masaka Shago Tara.

“Firefighters from the state headquarters were dispatched to the scene, where they recovered the body and handed it over to the Ward Head of the area, Ado Idris,” he stated.

Abdullahi urged parents and community leaders to monitor children closely and prevent them from playing or swimming in open water bodies.

In a similar incident in July, a 17-year-old boy, Lurwanu Suleiman, drowned in open water at Dandalama village in Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of the state.
