Christmas:Rivers Police Warn Against Night Travel Along Elele – Owerri Road

The Nigerian police force has issues a strong security warning to motorist traveling along the Elele , isiokpo omerelu- Owerri road at night, noting that there are serious kidnapping and robbery along that road.

The Rivers state commissioner of police, mohammed mustapha issued this warning during a press conference on Wednesday in port Harcourt.

He reiterated the commands readiness to increase security patrols along the affected routes to ensure the safety of motorist and passengers during this festive period.

Mustapha further revealed, ” they have put in place a very tight police architecture from the port Harcourt international airport round about to Elele down to the boundaries between Rivers state and imo state, up to the Elele to omoku axis of the state.

The police boss urged traveller to desist from traveling at night, and ensure that they don’t board unregistered vehicle.

According to him, the police is very committed to the safety of travelers during this period.”

Mustapha stated that the command engaged the local vigilante organization in the state in a discussion to finding a lasting solution to this ugly trend.

In the course of these discussions, the command discovered that expelled and former members of the local vigilante groups, especially the ( OSPAC ) the Onlega security peace Advisory committee are behind some of these criminal activities.
