Osun Amotekun Operative Dies Suddenly While Preparing for Work

The Osun Amotekun Corps has announced the sudden death of one of its operatives, Sheriff Ogundiran, who reportedly collapsed at his residence while getting ready for duty.

He was confirmed dead shortly after.

Confirming the incident in an interview with reporters on Thursday, the spokesperson for the Corps, Yusuf Idowu, said Ogundiran fell ill unexpectedly and could not be revived. Until his passing, he served as the Provost of the B Division under the Ila-Orangun Command.

Idowu described the incident as a profound loss not only to the Amotekun Corps but also to the wider security community in Osun State.

In a condolence message signed by the Corps Commander, Mr. Adekunle Omoyele, and shared with journalists in Osogbo, the organisation expressed heartfelt sympathies to Ogundiran’s family, friends, colleagues, and the entire Ila-Orangun community.

“Sheriff Ogundiran was more than an operative—he was a pillar of our command structure,” Omoyele stated. “A disciplined, loyal, and tireless officer, he served with unwavering dedication to the safety of our people. His sudden death is a painful and irreplaceable loss.”

Omoyele praised the late operative for his professionalism, bravery, and steadfast commitment to duty, noting his significant contributions to maintaining peace and security in Ila-Orangun and surrounding areas. “His legacy will remain a part of the Osun Amotekun Corps’ history,” he added.
