Ruth had undergone a leg amputation after being struck by a truck belonging to the Dangote Group near Auchi Polytechnic in Edo State. Despite initial hopes for recovery, she sadly passed away on Sunday morning, weeks after the tragic incident.

Her family, through a statement issued by Eko Solicitors & Advocates, confirmed the heartbreaking loss, disclosing that Ruth died at about 6:30 a.m. on August 31, 2025.

“With deep sorrow, the family announces the passing of their beloved daughter, sister, and mother, on this 31st day of August, 2025, at approximately 06:30 hours,” the statement read.

A family insider revealed to Fusion Chronicles Nigeria Newspaper that officials of the Dangote Group were immediately contacted after Ruth’s passing and subsequently took responsibility for transferring her remains to the mortuary.

“When she died this morning, Dangote’s representatives were informed and they came to take her body to the morgue. We expect them to also cover her burial expenses, just as they had stepped in to handle her medical bills,” the source disclosed.

Another relative, while describing Ruth as a warm and lively individual, said she would be deeply missed.

“We fondly called her ‘Bobo.’ She was cheerful and affectionate. She often stayed with her parents at Ketu-Alapere and frequently visited our family home in Kosofe,” the relative recounted.

Eyewitnesses earlier recounted how the truck crushed Ruth’s leg before it was halted by a courageous bystander.Phyna had earlier demanded that her sister be flown abroad for advanced treatment.

In response, the Dangote Group acknowledged the accident, noting that its representatives had visited the scene, liaised with security agencies, and assured the family of full medical and welfare support in line with company policy.
