Former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has hinted that his return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would only be meaningful if other key figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, also rejoin the party.
Speaking on the matter, Jonathan emphasized the need for unity within the PDP, stressing that calls for his return should be extended to other influential members who left the party.
“If anybody wants me to come back to PDP, they should also appeal to Atiku to come to PDP,” Jonathan reportedly said, underscoring that the collective strength of all stakeholders is crucial for the party’s revival.
Political analysts view Jonathan’s remarks as a signal that reconciliation and inclusiveness will play a central role in PDP’s future strategy, especially as preparations for the 2027 general elections intensify.
Atiku Abubakar, who contested the 2023 presidential election on the platform of the PDP, has been a central figure in the party’s internal dynamics, and his position going forward remains a matter of national interest.
Jonathan’s statement is expected to stir further conversations within PDP ranks, as party leaders continue to weigh strategies to strengthen their base and present a united front in the next election cycle.
