Female Students Assault Peer Over Alleged Boyfriend Snatching at Ogun Tech Institute

A female student at the Ogun State Institute of Technology, Igbesa (formerly Gateway Polytechnic, Igbesa), was brutally assaulted by a group of her peers over allegations of “boyfriend snatching.”
A video of the incident, which went viral on Wednesday, shows several female students beating the victim with long, thick canes.
The attackers claimed their actions were known to their mothers and expressed indifference about any potential repercussions or reports made by the victim.
The assault left the student with visible injuries on her back and head.
Despite pleas from some students urging one of the main attackers, identified as Lolade, to stop, she continued the beating, stating it was intended to “teach the victim a lesson.”
In response to the video, the Ogun State Police Command announced it has launched an investigation.
In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, the command confirmed that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Igbesa has taken over the case.
