Akwa Ibom:Tragic Incident in Ibesikpo, A Man Allegedly Killed Over Affair With Pregnant Woman.
A tragic incident occurred on Thursday in Okop Ndua Erong, Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, where a man identified as Victor Akpabio from Ididep, Ibiono Ibom, lost his life after allegedly being caught in a compromising situation with a married, seven-month pregnant woman.
The woman, identified as Esther Akpabio Effiong, is the wife of a local businessman popularly known as Mulgu.
According to Eyewitnesses, The two consenting adults were caught together in a private setting, triggering outrage among local residents. In the chaos that ensued, Victor was reportedly assaulted and scalded with hot water. He later succumbed to the injuries sustained during the attack.
Sources claim that Esther cited dissatisfaction in her marital relationship as the reason for her actions, allegedly criticizing her husband’s sexual performance as a “two-minute- man. These claims have further intensified public reaction, with varying opinions on the circumstances leading to the tragic outcome.
The community has been left in shock, and there are growing calls for a thorough investigation on the issue , while all individuals involved in the violence are to be held accountable under the law. Many are also using the incident to advocate against “jungle justice”—the unlawful and brutal punishment of individuals outside the legal system.
As authorities begin their inquiry, residents and observers alike are calling for calm and justice through due legal process, rather than mob retaliation.
