Atiku Criticizes 2025 Budget, Says It Fails to Address Nigeria’s Economic Misery

Atiku Abubakar criticizes the 2025 budget proposal. He says it lacks structural reforms and fiscal discipline.

The budget fails to address inefficiencies and unsustainable borrowing. It prioritizes debt servicing over essential investments.

Atiku highlights the budget’s weaknesses:

Deficit and Borrowing: N13 trillion deficit to be bridged by borrowing.

Disproportionate Debt Servicing: N15.8 trillion for debt servicing.

Excessive Recurrent Spending: N14 trillion for recurrent spending.

Insufficient Capital Investment: 25-34% of budget for capital investment.

Atiku warns that the budget will fail due to weak foundations. He criticizes the planned VAT increase to 10%.
