A clergyman from Plateau State, Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, has placed a curse on former presidential aide Reno Omokri, accusing him of lying about the ongoing killing of Christians in Nigeria. Rev. Dachomo, who serves as the Regional Chairman of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, declared that Omokri would face divine punishment for allegedly denying what he described as a “Christian genocide.”
Omokri, who was a media aide to former President Goodluck Jonathan, has repeatedly dismissed reports that Christians are being systematically killed in Nigeria, particularly in Plateau State. He has even invited international observers to investigate the situation, insisting that there is no religious persecution.
Earlier this year, following an attack by suspected Fulani militants that reportedly claimed over 150 lives in Plateau communities, Omokri had claimed on X (formerly Twitter) that only 17 people were killed. His post drew widespread outrage, prompting him to delete it, though he never apologized for the misinformation.
Rev. Dachomo condemned Omokri’s stance, accusing him of disrespecting the memories of those who have been killed. In a video shared on his Facebook page on Thursday, the pastor said Omokri’s actions were an insult to the victims and warned that he would not escape God’s judgment unless he repents.
“There is genocide, and I have proof,” Dachomo said emotionally. “I have pictures of innocent victims, including children. I will soon hold a press conference to present this evidence. The government is pretending nothing is happening while our people are being slaughtered.”
He further accused the authorities of abandoning the people to terrorists. “They say I am opposing the government by speaking out, but are they not exposing us to death by ignoring our cries for help?”
Turning his attention to Omokri, the pastor said: “That man called Reno Omokri he said there is no genocide in Nigeria. I have already cursed him. He will never know peace. The blood of the innocent will be upon him. Unless he repents, he will face the wrath of God.”
Rev. Dachomo concluded by urging Omokri and others who deny the killings to seek repentance, warning that God’s judgment awaits anyone who trivializes the suffering of Christians in northern Nigeria.
