
FG Warns of 3-Day Downpour, Flood Risk in 9 States
The Federal Government has sounded the alarm over a looming five-day stretch of heavy rainfall from June 18 to June 20, 2025, warning that it may trigger severe flooding in parts of Nigeria.

The alert was issued by the National Flood Early Warning Systems Centre under the Federal Ministry of Environment.
According to the agency, 24 communities across nine states are at high risk. The states and some of the areas likely to be affected include:
Bauchi (Darazo, Kirfi)
Kwara (Jebba)
Kaduna (Kachia)
Katsina (Kaita, Katsina, Bindawa, Funtua)
Niger (Mokwa, Mashegu)
Adamawa (Ganye, Gbajili)
Kebbi (Birnin Kebbi, Kalgo, Sakaba)
Kano (Kano, Gwarzo, Karaye, Bebeji, Gezawa, Wudil)
Zamfara (Majara, Gusau, Bungudu)
Residents in these areas are urged to stay alert, avoid flood-prone zones—especially lowlands—and relocate to safer locations if necessary.
Authorities emphasized that taking early action could save lives and reduce damage as Nigeria moves deeper into the rainy season.
