Governor Fintiri Gives Free Dialysis Treatment

In a landmark move to improve healthcare access, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has announced free dialysis treatment across state-owned hospitals in Adamawa.

The initiative, aimed at easing the financial burden on kidney patients, ensures that those in need can receive treatment without cost, whether in urban or rural areas.

Confirming the development, the Medical Director of Specialists Hospital Yola, Dr. Dauda Wadinga, stated:

“We have already started free dialysis treatment. If you have dialysis patients, kindly register them with the hospital.”

The Dialysis Centre at Specialists Hospital Yola is the first of its kind in the history of state-owned medical facilities. Before now, dialysis patients in Adamawa relied primarily on Modibbo Adama University Teaching Hospital or had to travel long distances for treatment—often at a high cost.

A patient currently undergoing dialysis at the facility expressed gratitude, saying he would have spent tens of thousands of naira per session but has received treatment for free under the new policy.
