The leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso, is reportedly set to defect to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Monday, in what could mark a significant shift in Nigeria’s political landscape ahead of the 2027 elections.
Sources indicate that Kwankwaso is expected to formally align with the ADC-led coalition as part of broader political realignments aimed at strengthening opposition forces. The move is seen as a strategic effort to consolidate influence and build a more formidable platform to challenge the ruling party in the next general elections.
In a related development, the 2023 Kano State governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nasiru Gawuna, is also expected to resign from the APC and join the ADC coalition. His anticipated defection further signals growing momentum within the coalition as key political figures reposition ahead of 2027.
