Armed Robbers Attack Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic Students, Kill One
Bauchi State has witnessed yet another tragedy as armed robbers attacked off-campus students of Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic, killing one. The incident comes barely two weeks after a similar attack targeted students of the Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi.
According to eyewitnesses, the attack happened around 3 a.m. on Friday, when three armed robbers stormed a lodge occupied by two students. In the course of the struggle, one of the students, identified as Samuel Mbami, an ND2 Mass Communication student, was stabbed in the stomach. He later died from excessive bleeding.
In a statement signed by its president, Usman Aliyu, the Students’ Union Government (SUG) condemned the incident, describing it as “tragic and senseless.” The union urged security agencies to launch a thorough investigation and called on authorities to strengthen security both within the campus and surrounding communities to safeguard students’ lives.
The SUG also appealed to students to remain calm and prioritize their safety while awaiting further action from the authorities.
Efforts to reach the Bauchi State Police Command for comments on the incident proved unsuccessful.
