Police react as Cable vandal get electrocuted in Adamawa

A cable thieves in Yola, the Adamawa State capital, has been reportedly electrocuted on Sunday at a transformer along Ribadu Square.
In a statement made available to journalists on Sunday by the Adamawa State Police Command spokesman, SP Suleiman Nguroje stated that the yet-to-be identified middle-aged man was found half burnt at the top of a transformer connecting poles that link electricity cables the different parts of the area.
The statement reads in parts, “The Adamawa State Police Command has today 19/1/2025 found a yet-to-be identified person at the electric transformer along Ribadu square around 0600hrs, while trying to vandalise some electrical cables.

“Unfortunately, a part of his body got in contact with live electric current which caused him an electric shock and serious injury, leaving him. unconscious
“The body has been evacuated to the hospital for expert opinion.” The statement added that investigations were ongoing for more recoveries and others who were involved.
FCNN gathered that the Adamawa State Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, has warned that members of the public to keep off from electrical transformers and cables.
The Police Boss further advised residents to report anyone seen lurking around electric facilities for immediate action by the police.
